The release of the lightweight distribution Puzzle 2502 has been published, providing a preconfigured and ready-to-use LWDE (Lightweight Wayland Desktop Environment) desktop based on the Labwc compositing server. The distribution is built on the Arch Linux package base using a custom repository. This project may be useful for enthusiasts looking to create their environment for transitioning from LXDE to environments utilizing Wayland. A build for the x86_64 architecture (511 MB) is available for download.
Features of the assembly:
- Bootable graphical menu GRUB2 with options for selecting timezone, language, and keyboard layout, along with custom-developed components: AutoISO for launching Linux from iso and LF-auto for automatically finding installed LF distributions.
- Kernel version 6.13 of our custom build with the addition of AUFS and UKSMD (which merges memory pages with identical content).
- initrd compatible with mkinitcpio, providing several installation options with the ability to freeze and save the system state.
- Installation is possible in a partition or directory (standard or by copying, like LiveCD).
- Modular structure. At boot, it is possible to select the necessary modules. Using the Module Manager sfs-get, ready-made modules can be downloaded from the custom repository and connected without rebooting the system.
