A new version of Radix cross Linux Distribution 1.9.226 is now available, built using the proprietary Radix.pro build system that simplifies the creation of distributions for embedded systems. The distribution builds are available for devices based on RISC-V, ARM/ARM64, MIPS, and x86/x86_64 architectures. The boot images, prepared according to the instructions in the Platform Download section, contain a local package repository, thus installation does not require an Internet connection. The code of the build system is distributed under the MIT license.
The 1.9.226 release is enhanced with a GRUB and EDK II build for the Orange Pi 5 device based on the RK3588s SoC. The EDK II image (orange-pi5.spi-flash.image) is available in the orange-pi5 directory and can be flashed using U-Boot or mtd-utils. If the system is installed using the Setup utility on the NVMe disk (/dev/nvme0n1), EDK II will be automatically flashed, allowing the board to be used like a regular PC, enabling installation of various OS from external drives.
It is also worth noting the release of the image for the SBC VisionFive2 with RISC-V architecture. A toolchain has been developed for this architecture, allowing the creation of programs using GNU Libc as well as writing programs for the GD32VF103 microcontrollers and many others. The toolchain can be found in the toolchains directory for all popular architectures.
