NTC IT ROSA has released a corrective update to the freely distributed and community-developed ROSA Fresh 12.5 distribution, built on the rosa2021.1 platform. Builds prepared for free download are available for the x86_64 platform in versions with KDE Plasma 5, GNOME, Xfce, LXQt, and with no GUI. Users who already have ROSA Fresh 12 installed will receive an update automatically.
Key Changes:
- The package base has been updated. The Linux kernel has been upgraded to version 6.6 (previously provided branches 5.10, 5.15, and 6.1 will continue to be supported).
- Firmware and drivers for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth have been updated.
- Proprietary drivers for NVIDIA graphics cards 550 have been added (branches 340, 390, and 470 are still available).
- A new version of the ROSA update indicator has been proposed, supporting various access restriction options for installing updates—request for administrator password, request for password only for users, and no password required.
- The installer has been improved to automatically partition during installation on encrypted drives, supporting tpm2 technology for storing encryption passwords in non-volatile memory (luksunlock/lukslock commands).
- Printing and scanning can now be done without prior installation of drivers for printers supporting the IPP Everywhere protocol and for scanners supporting the WSD protocol. This functionality has been implemented using ipp-usb and sane-airscan packages.
- Support for "sconfigs-*" packages with enhanced security and system audit settings has been added.
- The qemoo utility has been proposed for quick launching of ISO images in the QEMU emulator.
- Versions of user environment components: KDE Frameworks 5.112.0, KDE Plasma 5.27.10, KDE Applications 23.08.04, Qt 5.15.10, gtk 4.7.2, GNOME 42, Firefox 124.0.1, Chromium 122, LibreOffice 7.6.5, Xfce 4.16, LXQt 1.4.
