The release of the specialized distribution Tails 4.24 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), based on the Debian package base and designed to ensure anonymous internet access, has been published. Anonymous access in Tails is provided by the Tor system. All connections, except for traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by the packet filter by default. To store user data in persistent mode between reboots, encryption is applied. An iso image for Live mode has been prepared, with a size of 1.1 GB.
In the new version, a switch to the Tor Browser 11 branch has been made, the stable release of which has not yet been formed (instead of the expected stable release Browser 11.0, another test release Tor Browser 11.0a10 has been published, based on Firefox 91.3 ESR and the alpha version Tor 0.4.7.2).
Other changes in Tails 4.24 include a more noticeable confirmation dialog displayed when attempting to reinstall the system on a USB drive with persistent user storage (Persistent Storage) enabled. Improvements have been made to the Tor Connection wizard, which allows connections from censored networks via bridge gateways to bypass blocks. The interface for selecting the time zone has been improved. CPU load has been reduced when displaying update installation status in the update interface.
