The release of the specialized distribution Tails 5.20 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), based on the Debian package base and designed for anonymous internet access, has been finalized. Anonymous access in Tails is provided by the Tor system. All connections, except traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by the packet filter by default. User data is stored in a persistence mode using encryption. An ISO image capable of running in Live mode, sized at 1.2 GB, has been prepared for download.
In the new version:
- Tor Browser has been updated to version 13.0.4, synchronized with the Firefox 115.5.0 ESR code base, which has fixed 14 vulnerabilities (12 of which are classified as critical).
- The version of the Thunderbird email client has been updated to 115.5.0.
- To protect against hidden browser identification, the loading of the AdGuard filtering list for uBlock Origin, which is tied to the current session's language, has been disabled.
- Issues with the activation of persistent storage have been resolved, and translation errors have been fixed.
- In the WhisperBack interface, the process of sending error messages with the necessary diagnostic information has been simplified.
