The release of the specialized distribution Tails 5.7 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), based on the Debian package base and designed for anonymous internet access, has been announced. Anonymous access in Tails is provided by the Tor system. All connections, except for traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by the packet filter by default. User data storage in persistent mode between sessions is secured with encryption. An ISO image capable of running in Live mode, sized at 1 GB, has been prepared for download.
In the new version:
- Metadata Cleaner has been introduced, a simple and user-friendly graphical interface for removing metadata from files, which is an extension of the MAT utility, meaning it supports cleaning the same file formats.
- The toolset tor 0.4.7.11 has been updated.
- Tor Browser has been updated to version 11.5.8 (not officially announced yet), which includes vulnerability fixes carried over from Firefox ESR 102.5.
- The package pdf-redact-tools has been removed from the distribution due to unresolved issues.
