The release of the specialized distribution Tails 6.18 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), developed as part of the Tor project, has been announced. The distribution is based on the Debian 12 package base, comes with the GNOME 43 desktop, and is designed for anonymous internet access using the Tor tools. By default, all connections except traffic through the Tor network are blocked by a packet filter. User data is encrypted for storage between sessions. An ISO image has been prepared for download, capable of running in Live mode, with a size of 1 GB.
The new version implements the ability to use network bridges based on the WebTunnel transport for connecting to the Tor network. WebTunnel mimics typical web traffic and can be used where the obfs4 transport does not work. Tor Browser 14.5.5 and Thunderbird 128.12.0 have been updated.
