The release of the specialized distribution Tails 6.9 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been announced, developed within the Tor project. The distribution is based on Debian 12 and comes with the GNOME 43 desktop environment, designed for anonymous internet access using the Tor toolkit. All connections, except for traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by default by the packet filter. User data is stored with encryption in persistence mode between sessions. A 1 GB iso image is available for download, capable of running in Live mode.
The new version updates Tor Browser 14.0.1, the Tor toolkit 0.4.8.13, and the email client Thunderbird 115.16.0. A problem with the automatic installation of updates that led to an error message regarding the inability to download the update has been resolved.
