The release of the specialized distribution Tails 7.4 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) developed under the Tor project has been announced. The distribution is based on the Debian 13 package base, comes with the GNOME 48 desktop environment, and is designed for anonymous web access using Tor tools. All connections, except for traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by default by a firewall. User data is encrypted for preservation between sessions. An ISO image has been prepared for download, capable of running in Live mode, sized at 2 GB.
In the new version:
- It is now possible to save language settings, keyboard layouts, and formats on a USB drive, with automatic configuration after reboot.
- Versions of Tor Browser 15.0.4, Thunderbird 140.6.0, and Linux kernel 6.12.63 have been updated.
- For security reasons, torrent files for downloading the distribution via BitTorrent have been discontinued. It is recommended to download the distribution directly from the official project mirrors.
