Release of distributions ALT Workstation, ALT Server, and ALT Education 9.1

Available updating the three main OS ALT versions 9.1 based on the Ninth ALT platform (p9 Vaccinium): ALT Workstation 9, ALT Server 9, ALT Education 9. The most significant change is the further expansion of the list of supported hardware platforms.

The ALT OS is available for eight Russian and foreign hardware platforms: 32/64-bit x86 and ARM processors, Elbrus processors (v3 and v4), as well as Power8/9 and 32-bit MIPS. Builds are supplied for domestic systems on processors Elbrus, Baikal-M (for the first time), Baikal-T, Elvees.

The original domestic operating systems are now available for eight Russian and foreign hardware platforms. They now run on the following processors:

• «ALT Workstation 9– x86 (32/64-bit), ARM64 (NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit, Raspberry Pi 3/4, and others), ARM32 (Salyut-EL24PM2), e2k/e2kv4 (Elbrus), mipsel (Tavolga Terminal);
• «ALT Server 9– for x86 (32/64-bit), ARM64 (Huawei Kunpeng, ThunderX, and others), ppc64le (YADRO Power 8/9, OpenPower), e2k/e2kv4 (Elbrus);
• «ALT Education 9– for x86 (32/64-bit), ARM64 (NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit, Raspberry Pi 3/4, and others), e2kv4 (Elbrus, including in multi-seat configurations).

For each architecture, the build is performed natively, without using cross-compilation.

What's new in the ALT OS version 9.1:

• for the first time, the image of the OS "ALT Workstation" is available for mini-ITX boards on the domestic processor Baikal-M (ARM64);
• for the first time, the "ALT Workstation" distribution is released on the ARM32 platform, working on computers with Elvees MCom-02 (Salyut-EL24PM2) boards;
• for the first time, images for the popular Raspberry Pi 4 (ARM64) single-board computer of the distributions "ALT Workstation" and "ALT Education" are presented;
• Huawei Kunpeng Desktop (ARM64) has been included in the list of supported platforms;
• for the first time, a new development for supporting Active Directory group policies has been introduced;
• for most platforms, there has been a transition to kernel version 5.4;
• the server distribution for the 64-bit x86 platform includes the popular open platform for organizing video conferencing Jitsi Meet;
• when installing in the password input fields, you can show the password, to avoid the consequences of unexpected layout.

The new release of "Alt Education" includes the following changes:

• a deploy package has been added to deploy system services using Ansible (currently supporting the deployment of PostgreSQL), as well as the afce, libva-intel-media-driver, and grub-customizer packages;
• the default installation profile and the launching of programs with elevated privileges have been corrected in LiveCD.

"Alt Virtualization Server", available for x86_64, ARM64, and ppc64le, is scheduled to be updated to version 9.1 in early autumn 2020.

The "Alt" distributions for all platforms, except for VK "Elbrus", are available for free download. According to the license agreement, individuals can use the distributions for free for personal purposes.
