After a year of development, the release of Live distribution Finnix 125 has been presented, marking the 23rd anniversary of the project. The distribution is based on the Debian package base and supports console operation only, but includes a good selection of utilities for administrative needs. It consists of 601 packages with various utilities. The size of the ISO image is 489 MB.
In the new version:
- The package base is synchronized with the Debian repositories.
- The Linux kernel has been updated to the 6.1 branch.
- New packages included: 2048, aespipe, iperf3, ncdu, netcat-traditional, ninvaders, vitetris.
- When executing the 'apt update' command, index files for the 'testing' and 'unstable' repositories are ensured to be downloaded, with the 'testing' repository being prioritized.
- For memory testing, the memtest86+ 6.10 package with UEFI support is utilized.
- The 7z program is used to unpack archives with 7zr (p7zip-full can be installed separately).
