The release of the Live distribution Finnix 250 is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the project (the first version of Finnix was published on March 22, 2000). The distribution is based on a Debian package base, supports console-only operation, and provides a selection of utilities for system administrators. It includes over 600 packages with various utilities. The size of the ISO image is 528 MB.
In the new version:
- The package base has been synchronized with the Debian testing repositories as of March 13.
- The Linux kernel has been updated to version 6.12.
- The util-linux-extra package has been added.
- The reiserfsprogs and reiser4progs packages have been removed after ReiserFS support was discontinued in the Linux kernel.
- The stability of the ssh-agent has been improved.
- Support for build-specific media has been added to the initramfs boot image.
- The performance of the htop utility has been improved on systems with a large number of processor cores.
