The release of the desktop-oriented distribution GhostBSD 24.04.1 has been published, built on FreeBSD 14-STABLE and offering a MATE user environment. Additionally, unofficial builds with Xfce are being developed by the community. By default, GhostBSD uses the ZFS file system. Both live mode operation and installation on a hard drive are supported (using the custom installer ginstall, written in Python). Boot images are provided for the x86_64 architecture (2.6 GB).
In the new version:
- Synchronization with the FreeBSD 14-STABLE branch has been completed.
- The MATE desktop has been updated to version 1.28.1 (the MATE 1.28 branch has not yet been officially announced).
- Support for the I2C bus has been added and the ig4 module (driver for I2C controllers based on the Synopsys DesignWare chip) is enabled by default.
- The package includes the Signal Desktop application.
- A misleading error in the Russian translation has been fixed ("Update Available" was translated as "Нет доступных обновлений").
