The release of the SeaMonkey 2.53.11 internet application suite has taken place, which combines a web browser, an email client, an RSS/Atom feed aggregator, and a WYSIWYG HTML page editor called Composer into a single product. Pre-installed add-ons include the IRC client Chatzilla, the DOM Inspector web development tools, and the Lightning calendar/planner. This new release includes fixes and changes from the current Firefox codebase (SeaMonkey 2.53 is based on the Firefox 60.8 browser engine, porting security-related fixes and some enhancements from the current Firefox branches).
Among the changes:
- In Chatzilla, the priority for protocol usage has been modified (secure protocols are now prioritized).
- References to FreeNode, Java, and Flash have been removed.
- The message filtering dialogue has been redesigned. A search function for filters has been added.
- The ability to create new filters by pressing the Insert key has been provided.
