The release of the Linux distribution CRUX 3.5

After a year of development prepared the release of an independent lightweight Linux distribution CRUX 3.5, developed since 2001 according to the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle and targeted at experienced users. The aim of the project is to create a simple and transparent distribution for users, based on BSD-like initialization scripts, with a maximally simplified structure and containing a relatively small number of precompiled binary packages. CRUX supports a ports system that allows easy installation and updating of applications in the style of FreeBSD/Gentoo. The size ISO image, prepared for the x86-64 architecture, is 644 MB.

In the new release, the Linux-PAM package has been included in the core, providing the use of the PAM (Pluggable Authentication Modules) mechanism for organizing authentication in the system. The use of PAM allows users to implement features such as two-factor authentication for system login. Various components have been migrated from autotools to new build systems. D-Bus settings have been moved from /usr/etc to the /etc directory (configuration files may need to be modified). graphics stack components, including new releases of Mesa 19.2, X.Org Server 1.20.5, and libdrm 2.44.99 that were tested in Ubuntu 19.10.
