The release of media player VLC 3.0.19 has been announced, featuring support for Super Resolution technology on systems with Intel and NVIDIA GPUs. This technology utilizes spatial upscaling algorithms and detail reconstruction to minimize image quality loss during zooming and when rendering at higher resolutions. Among other changes:
- Enhanced support for AV1 video format. Improved processing of HDR video with software decoding of AV1. Added the capability to use hardware decoding of AV1 on Windows (DxVA). Resolved issues with AV1 GBRP streams.
- Improved hardware decoding utilization with D3D11 and OpenGL.
- Improved support for MP4, AVI (Qnap, GBRP), and RealVideo formats.
