The Document Foundation has released LibreOffice 26.2. Pre-installed packages are available for various distributions. Linux, Windows и macOSIn version 26.2, the project stopped shipping with the "Community" label (LibreOffice Community) and returned to being shipped simply as LibreOffice.
Previously, the "Community" label was added to emphasize that the build was maintained by enthusiasts and not intended for enterprise use. Several years ago, the LibreOffice Community name was introduced to more clearly distinguish it from the enterprise products in the LibreOffice Enterprise family, for which partner companies offer commercial support, long-term updates (LTS), and additional features such as SLAs (Service Level Agreements). Ultimately, the decision was made to remove the "Community" label because its presence during downloads was confusing and misleading—some believed it was a version for non-commercial use only, while it was available free of charge to everyone, including corporate users, without restrictions.
The most notable changes:
- We've added support for importing and exporting documents in Markdown format, as well as pasting text with Markdown markup via the clipboard. When importing Markdown documents, you can now use ODT/DOCX templates to customize their appearance.
- We've improved the performance and responsiveness of the interface when opening, editing, and saving large files. Exporting to EPUB format has been significantly accelerated. Rendering of shapes and SVG images with pattern fills has been accelerated.
- Improved compatibility with documents created in proprietary office suites. Support for open standards has been enhanced.
- In Linux, the color selection dialogs provided by the GTK and Qt libraries are used by default, instead of the LibreOffice-specific dialog. This behavior can be changed through the settings "Tools ▸ Options ▸ LibreOffice ▸ General".
- All dialog boxes use vertical tabs with icons.
- Added an option to use horizontal tabs in dialogs instead of vertical ones.
- Added the ability to insert a hyperlink via the context menu displayed for selected text.
- The screenshot creation dialog now includes the ability to copy an image to the clipboard, rather than just saving it to a file.
- A new set of symbols for marking items in unordered lists has been introduced. The image library for unordered lists has been updated.
- The theme selection dialog, the Layouts sidebar in Impress, and presets and shadow styles when customizing page border design have been switched to using the IconView widget instead of the ValueSet widget.
- Dialogs for navigating to a specific page, slide, or spreadsheet sheet have been switched to work in asynchronous mode.
- Added support for fonts embedded in documents whose license prohibits use during editing (previously, such fonts were ignored, but can now be displayed when opening a document in read-only mode).
- Assemblies for Linux are now generated for systems with x86-64-v2 architecture or newer.

- Improved display of floating tables along with paragraphs with attributes that prohibit splitting into pages or prescribe output on the same page as the next paragraph.
- Change tracking now preserves old text formatting information better for ODT and DOCX files. Tracking of partially deleted paragraphs has been improved.
- When pasting an image from the clipboard, a caption is automatically added under the image when the "AutoCaption" mode is enabled.
- Added paragraph alignment modes for beginning or end, allowing you to align paragraphs according to the text direction (left to right or right to left).
- Changes in the spreadsheet Calc:
- Added support for connecting lines (connectors),
- Added support for the xmlMaps object.
- The sorting dialog has expanded its capabilities. In natural sorting mode, an option has been added to treat the character separating the integer part of a number from the fractional part as a regular character. This allows, for example, sorting IP addresses in systems with locales that use the period separator. Saving and restoring locale settings set in the sorting dialog is now possible. Setting the locale affects not only the sorting algorithm but also locale-specific sorting properties, such as the separator character.
- Added support for the Biff12 clipboard format (Excel 2007+), allowing you to transfer data from Excel to Calc.
- When saving in XLSX format, the Excel 2010+ format is used by default.
- Eliminated overlapping of column headers for columns of small width.

- In the Impress presentation creation system, when launched in Windows Support for the Microsoft Media Foundation API for audio and video playback has been implemented. MFPlay is used for playback control.

- Chart now renders 3D charts faster and partially supports correct triple conversion of chart styles (OOXML → LO → OOXML). Hovering over color palette elements in the sidebar now previews the color change on the fly in the active chart.
- Options for handling external links have been added to the PDF export settings.
- The scripting system has been updated to Python 3.12. Python libraries for sqlite3, dbm, venv, and lzma are now included.
