A new release of OpenRGB 0.6 has been published, a free toolkit for managing RGB-lit devices. The package supports motherboards from ASUS, Gigabyte, ASRock, and MSI with RGB subsystems for case lighting, memory modules with lighting from ASUS, Patriot, Corsair, and HyperX, graphics cards like ASUS Aura/ROG, MSI GeForce, Sapphire Nitro, and Gigabyte Aorus, various LED strip controllers (ThermalTake, Corsair, NZXT Hue+), glowing coolers, mice, keyboards, headsets, and illuminated accessories from Razer. Information about the device interaction protocol is primarily obtained through reverse engineering of proprietary drivers and applications. The code is written in C/C++ and distributed under the GPLv2 license. Ready builds are provided for Linux, macOS, and Windows.

Among the most important changes:
- A plugin system has been added to enhance the user interface. OpenRGB developers have prepared plugins with an automatic update system, an effects engine, a visual map, and an implementation of the E1.31 protocol.
- Limited support for macOS has been implemented for Intel and ARM architectures.
- Event logging to a file has been implemented for faster diagnostics.
- User profile management through SDK has been added.
- A bug that caused lighting issues on MSI MysticLight motherboards has been fixed. Support for this series has been re-enabled for already tested boards, with developers providing assistance in restoring the functionality of lighting affected by the use of older OpenRGB versions.
- Support for ASUS, MSI, and Gigabyte GPUs has been expanded.
- Operating modes for EVGA GPUs have been added.
- Added support for devices:
- HyperX Pulsefire Pro
- Yeelight
- FanBus
- Corsair K55
- Corsair K57
- Corsair Vengeance Pro DRAM
- Das Keyboard 4Q
- NZXT Hue Underglow
- Thermaltake Riing Quad
- ASUS ROG Strix Flare
- Lian Li Uni Hub
- Creative Sound BlasterX G6
- Logitech G910 Orion Spectrum
- The code for Logitech mouse controllers has been consolidated to reduce code duplication, new operating modes have been added, and improved support for wireless connections has been implemented.
- Support for QMK has been added (requires manual configuration).
- Support for TPM2 and Adalight protocols for Arduino-based controllers has been added.
- An alternative driver for Razer devices has been integrated to replace OpenRazer due to the high number of crashes and delays in updates from the latter; to enable the alternative driver, you must disable OpenRazer in the OpenRGB settings.
Known Issues:
- Some ASUS devices that worked in version 0.5 stopped functioning in version 0.6 due to the introduction of a device whitelist. Developers ask to report such devices in Issues on GitLab.
- The 'wave' mode on Redragon M711 keyboards is not working.
- Some Corsair mouse LEDs do not have labels.
- Some Razer keyboards do not have a layout map assigned.
- The numbering of addressable LEDs on ASUS boards may be incorrect.
- Plugins currently do not have versioning. In case of program failures, try deleting or updating all plugins.
- Profiles created for earlier versions may not work in the new version due to controller renaming.
