Oracle has released the Solaris 11.4 SRU 78 (Support Repository Update), which includes a series of significant changes and improvements to the Solaris 11.4 branch. To install the proposed fixes in the update, simply run the command ‘pkg update’. Users can also take advantage of the free Solaris 11.4 CBE (Common Build Environment), developed using a continuous release model for new versions.
Among the changes in the new version:
- Changes have been made to the vdisk and mdb modules to enhance debugging for virtual disk issues. The virtual disk for logical virtual environments (LDoms) now supports displaying information about size and the number of blocks.
- The iostat utility has added the ‘-b’ option for displaying device statistics in guest systems and now allows specifying masks when selecting disks.
- Performance optimization has been implemented for the virtual HBA (Host Bus Adapter).
- OpenSSL 3 is enabled by default.
- The PSUtils toolkit has been replaced with PSPDFUtils.
- The ‘ldm list-domain’ and ‘ldm list-devices’ commands now include the ‘-S’ option for displaying statuses on SPARC platforms.
- New branches for MySQL 8.4, Python 3.13, and Ruby 3.3 have been introduced.
- In the cpio utility, extraction of files is now limited to the current working directory by default.
