After four years of development, the release of the auto-cpufreq 2.0 utility has been announced, designed for the automatic optimization of CPU speed and energy consumption in the system. The utility monitors the battery status of the laptop, CPU load, CPU temperatures, and system activity, and depending on the situation and chosen options, dynamically activates energy-saving or high-performance modes. For example, auto-cpufreq can be used to automatically extend laptop battery life without constantly limiting certain capabilities. It supports operation on devices with Intel, AMD, and ARM processors. The code of the utility is written in Python and is distributed under the LGPLv3 license.
