An experimental branch of the Advanced Package Tool APT 3.3.0 has been created, based on which a stable release 3.4 will be prepared after stabilization. The new APT branch has been accepted into Debian Unstable.
Notable changes include:
- In the apt utility, the warning about using an unstable console interface has been removed. The option "—cli-version" has been added to display the CLI version.
- On supported architectures, the Rust-written utility sqv has been included in the build dependencies in configurations without the pkg.apt.nosqv parameter set. In Ubuntu, the sqv utility is used instead of gpgv for verifying digital signatures.
- The command "apt history-list" has been automatically adapted to the terminal width.
- Code modernization has been conducted using the C++17 standard.
