The release of the web browser Nyxt 2.0.0 has been published, designed for advanced users who are offered virtually unlimited possibilities for customizing and modifying the behavior of any aspect of browser functionality. Conceptually, Nyxt is reminiscent of Emacs and Vim, and instead of a ready-made set of configurations, it allows for changing the very logic of operation using the Lisp language. A user can redefine or reconfigure any classes, methods, variables, and functions. The project code is written in Lisp and is distributed under the BSD license. The interface can be built with GTK or Qt. Pre-built binaries are available for Linux (Alpine, Arch, Guix, Nix, Ubuntu) and macOS.
To enhance workflow efficiency, the browser is optimized for keyboard management and supports standard keyboard shortcuts from Emacs, vi, and CUA. The project is not tied to a specific browser engine and uses a minimal API for interacting with web engines. There are layers for connecting WebKit and Blink engines (WebKitGTK is used by default), but the browser can be ported to other engines if desired. It includes a built-in ad-blocking system. Support for plugins written in Common Lisp is available (support for WebExtensions, similar to Firefox and Chrome, is planned).
