The release of the Snoop 1.3.1 project has been published, developing a forensic OSINT tool that searches for user accounts in public data (open source intelligence). The program analyzes various websites, forums, and social networks for the presence of the sought username, allowing to determine on which sites the user with the specified nickname exists. The project was developed based on research materials in the field of scraping public data. Builds are prepared for Linux and Windows.
The code is written in Python and is distributed under a license that restricts its use to personal purposes only. The project is a branch of the Sherlock project codebase, which is provided under the MIT license (the fork was created due to the inability to expand the website database).
Snoop is included in the Russian Unified Register of Russian Software for Electronic Computing Machines and Databases with the declared code 26.30.11.16: "Software that ensures the implementation of established actions during operational investigative activities: No7012 order 07.10.2020 No515". Currently, Snoop tracks the presence of users on 2226 internet resources in the full version and on the most popular resources in the demo version.
Key Changes:
- The search database has been extended to 2226 websites.
- In HTML/CSV reports and in CLI, a parameter 'session':: processed traffic data (ungzip) has been added overall and individually for each site (with the option '-v' visually in CLI; new column 'Session/Kb' in the CSV report; 'session' in the HTML report).
- In the CLI arguments, the key: '--update y' has been updated to the shortened '-U y'.
- When exceeding standard Internet censorship parameters, information about skipping has been added to the overall CLI output: "err DB in '%'".
- The Yandex_parser plugin has been updated to version 0.4 (skipping the processing of non-existent usernames in Yandex database).
- The license for the non-updatable EN version of Snoop has been extended for one year.
- Documentation updated: 'General Guide to the Snoop Project'.
