After a year of development, the release of the free cross-platform interpreter for classic adventures, ScummVM 2.9.0, has been published, replacing executable files for games and allowing many classic titles to run on platforms for which they were originally not intended. The project's code is distributed under the GPLv3+ license.
In total, the ability to run over 340 adventure games has been provided, including titles from companies such as LucasArts, Humongous Entertainment, Revolution Software, Cyan, and Sierra, such as Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island, Broken Sword, Myst, Blade Runner, King’s Quest 1-7, Space Quest 1-6, Discworld, Simon the Sorcerer, Beneath A Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress, and The Legend of Kyrandia. Games can be run on platforms including Linux, Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, PS Vita, Switch, Dreamcast, AmigaOS, Atari/FreeMiNT, RISC OS, Haiku, PSP, PS3, Maemo, GCW Zero, and more.
