Release of the free document layout package , which provides tools for professional print layout, including flexible PDF generation tools and support for working with separate color profiles, CMYK, and ICC. The system is written using the Qt toolkit and is licensed under the GPLv2+. Ready binary builds for Linux (AppImage), macOS, and Windows.
The 1.5 branch is positioned as experimental and includes features such as a new user interface based on Qt5, a modified file format, full table support, and enhanced text processing tools. The release 1.5.5 is marked as well-tested and already quite stable for working on new documents. After final stabilization and recognition of readiness for widespread adoption based on branch 1.5, a stable release of Scribus 1.6.0 will be formed.

- A significant amount of work has been done to refactor the code base to simplify project maintenance, improve code readability, and increase performance. Many bugs have also been fixed, notably issues in the new text engine and its related complex font handlers;
- The user interface now supports a dark color scheme;
- A function search interface similar to that provided in GIMP, G’MIC, and Photoshop has been added. In the dialog with search results, links to menu items that can invoke the found functions are also shown wherever possible;
- In Document Setup / Preferences, a separate tab for fonts installed on the system but not usable in Scribus has been added;
- Tooltip functionality has been implemented for font selection entries, allowing quick identification of the font name;
- In new commands have been added for automating various tasks using external scripts in Python;
- Import and export filters have been updated;
- Changes have been made to improve compatibility with the latest updates of Windows 10 and macOS;
- Some areas of the user interface have been polished.
