A new release of the free document layout package Scribus 1.5.8 has been published, providing tools for professional print material layout, including flexible PDF generation tools and support for working with separate color profiles, CMYK, spot colors, and ICC. The system is written using the Qt toolkit and is released under the GPLv2+ license. Precompiled binary builds are available for Linux (AppImage), macOS, and Windows.
Version 1.5 is positioned as experimental and includes features such as a new user interface based on Qt5, a modified file format, full table support, and enhanced text processing tools. The release 1.5.5 is noted as well-tested and already quite stable for working on new documents.
