Release of the free operating system Visopsys 0.9

Almost four years since the last major release was held the release of the visual operating system Visopsys 0.9 (VISual OPerating SYStem), developed since 1997 and different from Windows and Unix. The system's code was developed from scratch and is distributed in source text under the GPLv2 license. The bootable Live image only 50MB and works more accurately than is 21 MB.

The graphical subsystem, which forms the user interface, is integrated directly into the OS kernel, while console mode operation is also supported. The file systems offered in read/write mode include FAT32, while Ext2/3/4 is additionally supported in read-only mode. Visopsys features preemptive multitasking, multithreading, a network stack, dynamic linking, asynchronous input/output support, and virtual memory. A standard set of applications and standard C libraries is prepared. The kernel operates in 32-bit protected mode and is designed in a massively monolithic style (everything is compiled, with no module support). Executable files are formatted in the standard ELF format. There is built-in support for JPG, BMP, and ICO images.
