The release of TeX Live 2022 has been prepared, created in 1996 based on the teTeX project. TeX Live is the easiest way to deploy infrastructure for preparing scientific documentation, regardless of the operating system used. A build (4 GB) of TeX Live 2021 has been assembled for download, which includes a working Live environment, a complete set of installation files for various operating systems, a copy of the CTAN (Comprehensive TeX Archive Network) repository, and a collection of documentation in different languages (including Russian).
Notable new features include:
- A new hitex engine has been proposed, generating output in the HINT format, specifically designed for reading technical documentation on mobile devices. HINT format viewers are available for GNU/Linux, Windows, and Android.
- New primitives have been added: '\showstream' (for redirecting the output of the command '\show' into a file), '\partokenname', '\partokencontext', '\vadjust', '\lastnodefont', '\suppresslongerror', '\suppressoutererror', and '\suppressmathparerror'.
- LuaTeX has improved support for TrueType fonts and added the ability to use variable fonts in luahbtex.
- pdfTeX and LuaTeX now support structured links defined by the PDF 2.0 specification.
- The pTeX component has been updated to version 4.0.0 with more complete support for the latest LaTeX markup.
