A release of the specialized distribution Tails 4.16 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been formed, based on the Debian package base and intended for ensuring anonymous internet access. Anonymous access in Tails is provided by the Tor system. All connections, except traffic through the Tor network, are blocked by the packet filter by default. User data is stored with encryption in a mode that retains user data between launches. An ISO image capable of running in Live mode, sized 1.1 GB, has been prepared for download.
The new release features updates to the Linux kernel version 5.10 (the previous version included kernel 5.9), Tor Browser 10.0.12, and Thunderbird 78.7.0. A transition to the new stable Tor branch 0.4.5 has been made. During the update loading process, the default focus on the Cancel button has been removed to prevent accidental cancellations of updates.
At the same time, the new version of the Tor Browser 10.0.12, aimed at ensuring anonymity, security, and privacy, has been released.
