A release of the specialized Tails 5.11 distribution (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been formed, based on the Debian package base and designed for anonymous internet access. Anonymous access in Tails is provided by the Tor system. All connections except traffic through the Tor network are blocked by default by the packet filter. User data is stored with encryption in a persistent data storage mode between sessions. An iso image has been prepared for download, capable of running in Live mode, with a size of 1.2 GB.
The new version of Tails includes support for swap space on the zRAM block device, which allows data to be stored in RAM in compressed form. Using zRAM on systems with limited RAM capacity enables keeping more applications running and promptly noticing memory shortages, thanks to a smoother slowdown before a freeze occurs. Screen recording is allowed using the built-in features of GNOME. Updated versions of Tor Browser 12.0.4 and Thunderbird 102.9.0. The design of the persistent storage unlock section on the system's Welcome Screen has been changed.
The new version of Tor Browser 12.0.4 is synchronized with the Firefox 102.9 ESR codebase, which has fixed 10 vulnerabilities. The NoScript extension version 11.4.18 has been updated. The setting network.http.referer.hideOnionSource has been enabled.
