Oracle has released a patch update for the virtualization system VirtualBox 6.1.32, which includes 18 fixes. Major changes include:
- Issues with access to certain classes of USB devices have been resolved in the additions for host environments with Linux.
- Two local vulnerabilities have been fixed: CVE-2022-21394 (severity level 6.5 out of 10) and CVE-2022-21295 (severity level 3.8). The second vulnerability only manifests on the Windows platform. Details about the nature of the issues are not provided yet.
- In the manager of virtual machines Stability issues with OS/2 in guest systems in environments with new AMD processors have been resolved (issues arose due to the absence of a TLB reset operation in OS/2).
- For environments running on top of the Hyper-V hypervisor, the compatibility of the guest systems' memory management subsystem with the HVCI (Hypervisor-Protected Code Integrity) mechanism has been improved.
- In the graphical interface, an issue with input focus loss when using the mini panel in full-screen mode has been resolved.
- In the sound card emulation code, an issue with the creation of an empty debug log when enabling the OSS backend has been fixed.
- In the E1000 network adapter emulator, the transmission of link status information to Linux kernels has been established.
- In the automated installation mode, a regression that caused crashes on Windows XP and Windows 10 systems has been corrected.
- In the additions for host environments with Solaris, a bug in the installer that led to crashes in Solaris 10 has been resolved, and an oversight in the package (the vboxshell.py script was lacking execution rights) has been corrected.
- In guest systems, an issue with incorrect mouse cursor positioning in text mode has been addressed.
- In Guest Control, Unicode handling has been established, and issues with copying directories between the host environment and guest system have been resolved.
- In the shared clipboard, the transmission of HTML content between guest systems and hosts based on X11 and Windows has been improved.
- In the additions for OS/2, issues with setting extended attributes on shared-access directories have been fixed.
