Oracle has released a patch for the virtualization system VirtualBox 7.0.14, which includes 14 fixes. At the same time, an update for the previous version VirtualBox 6.1.50 has been created with 7 changes, including support for kernel packages from RHEL 9.4 and 8.9 distributions, as well as the implementation of the ability to import and export virtual machine images with NVMe storage controllers and media inserted in the CD/DVD virtual drive.
Key changes in VirtualBox 7.0.14:
- Improved 3D support.
- Added support for importing and exporting images of virtual machines in OVF format, containing NVMe storage controllers.
- Added support for exporting virtual machine images in OVF format, containing media inserted in the CD/DVD virtual drive, linked to the Virtio-SCSI controller.
- Support for kernel packages provided in RHEL 9.4 has been added in the additions for Linux hosts and guest systems.
- In the additions for Linux guest systems, a problem has been resolved regarding unexpected shutdowns caused by a failure in vboxvideo on systems with the RHEL 8.9 kernel.
- In the additions for Solaris guest systems, the ability to install additions in an alternative root directory ('pkgadd -R') has been implemented.
- Removing additions for Solaris guest systems no longer requires restarting the virtual machine.
- Corrected the display of measurement units in memory consumption data, specified in the VirtualSystemDescription parameter.
- On Windows hosts, issues with switching audio devices when using the WAS audio backend have been resolved.
- In Windows guest systems, a problem has been resolved regarding the loss of touch screen events when a user long presses without moving their finger.
- On macOS hosts, support for new storage devices has been added, and a memory leak in VBoxIntNetSwitch has been fixed if the virtual machine is configured to use an internal network.
