The release of Lanemu P2P VPN 0.11.7 has occurred — a decentralized virtual private network operating on a Peer-To-Peer principle, where participants connect directly to each other rather than through a central server. Network participants can discover each other via BitTorrent trackers or BitTorrent DHT, or through other network members (peer exchange). The application is a free and open-source alternative to VPN Hamachi, written in Java (with some components in C) and distributed under the GNU LGPL 3.0 license. It supports running on Windows, GNU/Linux, and FreeBSD.
Changes in version 0.11.7:
- The application executable now requires the installation of OpenJDK instead of Oracle Java SE 8. To run via the old .exe, use Lanemu-legacy.exe.
- Fixed bug: The UPnP status in the user interface did not always update.
- When closing the application, the TCP port is now automatically closed via UPnP.
- The invitation creation form has been updated to support a calendar widget (for the expiration date of the invitation).
- Support has been added for entering multiple http(s) addresses of BitTorrent trackers in the field when creating a network.
- Minor improvements have been made to the code for BitTorrent tracker/DHT support.
