Release of Wine 10.15

An experimental release of the open-source implementation of the Win32 API — Wine 10.15 has been published. Since the release of 10.14, 16 bug reports have been closed and 277 changes have been made.

The most significant changes:

  • Partial support for the ntsync driver has been added, significantly boosting the performance of Windows games run through Wine. The driver is included in the Linux kernel starting from the 6.14 release and implements the character device /dev/ntsync along with a set of synchronization primitives used in the Windows NT kernel. The significant performance gain is achieved by eliminating the overhead associated with using RPC in user space.
  • The opcservices library, designed for handling OPC (Open Packaging Conventions) packages defined in the OOXML (Office Open XML) standard, now includes support for package compression using the Zip64 format, allowing for archiving files larger than 4 GB.
  • Unicode character tables have been updated to version 17.0.0.
  • Bug reports related to the functioning of applications: Visual Studio 2005, cmd.exe, Steam, and CapCut have been closed.
  • Bug reports related to the functioning of games: Exertus darkness, Claw, and Bloodrayne Demo have been closed.
