Release of Wine 7.20 and Wine staging 7.20

An experimental release of the open implementation of WinAPI — Wine 7.20 has taken place. Since the release of version 7.19, 29 bug reports have been closed and 302 changes have been made.

The most significant changes:

  • The Wine Mono engine with .NET platform implementation has been updated to release 7.4.
  • A mechanism for font linking has been added, allowing one or more fonts to be linked to another font. By default, the base font is used when linking, but missing elements are taken from the linked fonts. Linking is ensured for system fonts MS UI Gothic, Tahoma, Microsoft JhengHei, MingLiU, MS Gothic, Yu Gothic UI, Meiryo, and MS Mincho.
  • Corrections have been made to the exception propagation system.
  • WineDump now supports creating dumps for EMF files.
  • Issues with certificate verification for Let’s Encrypt have been resolved in the crypt32 API.
  • Bug reports related to the operation of the following games have been closed: Crysis 2, Tequila City of Heroes Launcher, Autonauts, Axiom Verge 2, Visual Novel Shin Koihime † Eiyuutan 4, Obduction.
  • Bug reports related to the operation of applications have been closed: Visual C++ 2013, DC++ 0.868, ZOSI Cloud, MetaTrader4.

Additionally, it is worth mentioning the formation of the Wine Staging 7.20 project release, which creates extended Wine builds that include not fully ready or risky patches that are not yet suitable for acceptance into the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging provides 515 additional patches. In this new release, synchronization with the Wine 7.20 codebase has been accomplished. Patches supporting mfplat-streaming and nvcuda CUDA have been updated.
