An experimental release of the open implementation of WinAPI — Wine 8.8 has taken place. Since the release of version 8.7, 18 bug reports have been closed and 253 changes have been made.
The most significant changes:
- Initial support for loading ARM64EC modules (ARM64 Emulation Compatible, used to simplify the porting of applications originally written for the x86_64 architecture to ARM64 systems by providing the ability to execute individual x86_64 modular code in an ARM64 environment using an emulator) has been implemented.
- Additional work has been carried out in the PostScript driver to ensure full support for the Portable Executable (PE) file format.
- The ongoing restructuring of the code for IME (Input Method Editors) support has continued.
- Bug reports related to the game Devil May Cry have been closed.
- Bug reports related to the following applications have been closed: Captvty, Freemake Video Converter 4.1, Net64+ Client 2.x, Playstation Now 11.x, MathType, ACAT Phrase, Wavelab 6.1, Notepad3.
