Release of Wine 9.13 and Wine staging 9.13

An experimental release of the open implementation of the Win32 API — Wine 9.13 has been published. Since the release of 9.12, 22 bug reports have been closed and 336 changes have been made.

The most significant changes:

  • Support for loading ODBC drivers compiled for Windows for databases has been added.
  • Work has continued on placing user32 library data structures in shared memory.
  • The rewrite of the engine used in the command interpreter CMD.EXE has continued.
  • Bug reports related to the operation of applications have been closed: Photoshop CC 2024, CUERipper 2.2.5, MEGA TECH Faktura Small Business, Virtual Desktop, RegEdit.
  • Bug reports related to the operation of games have been closed: Victoria 2: A House Divided, Lylian, Guild Wars 2, The Witcher 3, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, So Blonde.

In addition, a release of the Wine Staging project 9.13 has been formed, providing enhanced builds of Wine, including not fully ready or risky patches that are not suitable for acceptance into the main Wine branch. Compared to Wine, Wine Staging offers 430 additional patches. In the new release, Wine Staging has synchronized with the Wine 9.13 codebase and transferred recent changes from vkd3d. The gdi32-rotation patch set has been updated. The odbc32-fixes patch has been added to address issues with writing to databases and supporting ODBC 2.0.
