The release of the DDX drivers developed by the X.Org project has been completed. These drivers operate in user space and do not require KMS/DRM drivers on the kernel side. The new versions offer accumulated bug fixes and ensure compatibility with modern compilers. Updates are available:
- xf86-video-nv 2.1.23 — a driver for older NVIDIA graphics cards that no longer receive kernel-level support.
- xf86-video-vboxvideo 1.0.1 — a driver for the VBoxVGA virtual graphics adapter used in VirtualBox. This driver can be used to run the X server in situations where the guest system lacks the kernel-level KMS driver vboxvideo (if a kernel module is available, the universal driver "xf86-video-modesetting" should be used).
- xf86-video-chips 1.5.0 — a driver for graphics devices from Chips & Technologies.
- xf86-video-savage 2.4.1 — a driver for Savage family graphics cards produced by S3 in the late 1990s.
Also notable is the release of a new version of the libX11 library 1.8.8, implementing the X11 protocol, and updates of utilities and libraries developed by the X.Org project: libXmu 1.2.0, libpciaccess 0.18.1, libXaw 1.0.16, xman 1.2.0, xedit 1.2.4, xload 1.2.0, lndir 1.0.5, and xdm 1.1.15. The new versions ensure compatibility with the upcoming GCC 14 release and remove support for outdated platforms OSF, AIXV3, Ultrix, HP-UX, SGI, VAX, QNX, UXP, and Lynx.
