The release of XWayland 21.2.0 is available, a DDX component (Device-Dependent X) that facilitates the operation of the X.Org Server for executing X11 applications in environments based on Wayland.
Key Changes:
- Support for the DRM Lease protocol has been added, allowing the X server to function as a DRM (Direct Rendering Manager) controller, providing DRM resources to clients. Practically, this protocol is used to create a stereoscopic image with different buffers for the left and right eye when outputting to virtual reality headsets.
- Framebuffer (fbconfig) settings for supporting the sRGB color space (GL_FRAMEBUFFER_SRGB) have been added in GLX.
- The library libxcvt has been included in the list of dependencies.
- The code has been overhauled with the implementation of the Present extension, providing the compositing manager with tools for copying or handling pixel maps of redirected windows, synchronizing with the vertical blanking interval (vblank), as well as handling PresentIdleNotify events, which allow the client to determine the availability of pixel maps for further modifications (the ability to know in advance which pixel map will be used in the next frame).
- The capability to process control gestures on the touchpad has been added.
- In the libxfixes library, the ClientDisconnectMode has been added along with the option to define a delay for automatic termination after client disconnection.
