The release of the Calculate Linux 21 distribution, developed by the Russian-speaking community and based on Gentoo Linux, is now available. It supports a continuous update release cycle and is optimized for rapid deployment in corporate environments. The new release features the Calculate Container Games build with a container for launching games from Steam, packages rebuilt with GCC 10.2, and compressed using Zstd, significantly accelerating the synchronization of Calculate Linux Desktop user profiles. The Btrfs file system is enabled by default.
The following editions of the distribution are available for download: Calculate Linux Desktop with KDE (CLD), MATE (CLDM), LXQt (CLDL), Cinnamon (CLDC), and Xfce (CLDX and CLDXE), Calculate Directory Server (CDS), Calculate Linux Scratch (CLS), and Calculate Scratch Server (CSS). All versions are distributed as bootable Live images for x86_64 systems with installation options on hard drives or USB drives (support for 32-bit architectures has been discontinued).
Calculate Linux is compatible with Gentoo portages, uses the OpenRC initialization system, and applies a Rolling update model. The repository contains more than 13,000 binary packages. The Live USB includes both open-source and proprietary video drivers. Multiboot is supported, and the boot image can be modified using Calculate utilities. The system supports working with the Calculate Directory Server domain with centralized authorization in LDAP and user profile storage. serverIt includes a specially developed set of utilities for configuring, building, and installing the system for the Calculate project. Tools are provided for creating specialized ISO images tailored to the user's tasks.
