The release of the free and open-source monitoring system Zabbix 7.2 has taken place. Version 7.2 is classified as a short-term supported version. Users who prefer long-term support are recommended to use Zabbix 7.0 LTS.
Zabbix is a universal system for monitoring the performance and availability of servers, services, engineering and network equipment, applications, databases, virtualization systems, containers, IT services, web services, cloud infrastructure, and IoT devices.
The system implements a complete cycle, starting from data collection, processing and transformation, analysis of that data for prediction and problem detection, and ending with data storage, visualization, and notification dispatching using escalation rules. The system also provides flexible options for expanding data collection methods, notifications, visualization tools, and automatic incident resolution. A unified web interface and a powerful API enable automation and centralized management of monitoring configurations and role-based access distribution among different user groups. KeyĀ improvementsĀ version 7.2:
- support for new widgets 'Top items', 'Host card';

To upgrade from earlier versions, only the installation of new binary files (server and proxy) and the new interface is required. Zabbix will automatically handle the upgrade process. No new agents need to be installed.
