A free version of the UNIGINE 3D engine has been released: Community edition

With the release of UNIGINE SDK 2.11, UNIGINE 2 Community, the free version of this cross-platform 3D engine is now available.

Supported platforms include Windows and Linux (starting from Debian 8; including the domestic distribution Astra Linux, used in the defense industry). It also supports various VR equipment. On Linux, both the engine itself and the included 3D scene visual editor (UnigineEditor) work flawlessly. OpenGL 4.5+ is used as the graphic API.

Based on UNIGINE Engine, a series of GPU benchmarks (including popular ones like Heaven and Superposition) has been released, and professional simulators and various industrial digital twins are being developed. Several games have been released, including Oil Rush (2012), Cradle (2015), RF-X (2016), and Sumoman (2017). An ambitious space MMORPG, Dual Universe, is currently in development. The engine's distinguishing features include support for very large virtual scenes, a wealth of out-of-the-box functionality, high performance, and simultaneous support for both C++ and C# APIs. Some advanced features are only available in commercial versions. Sim and Engineering.

The Community version of the engine is freely available to independent developers and projects with revenue/funding up to $100k per year, as well as to non-profit and educational organizations.

UNIGINE has been developed over the last 15 years by the eponymous company in Tomsk.
