Snoop Project is a forensic OSINT tool that searches for nicknames in public data.
Snoop is a fork of Sherlock with some enhancements and changes:
- The Snoop database is several times larger than the combined databases of Sherlock + Spiderfoot + Namechk.
- Snoop has fewer false positives compared to Sherlock, which are common in all similar tools (for example, comparisons with websites: Ebay; Telegram; Instagram), and improvements in the algorithm (Snoop can detect username.salt).
- New options.
- Support for sorting and HTML format
- Improved informative output.
- Software upgrade capability.
- Informative reports (enhanced 'csv' format)
In version 1.1.9, the Snoop database exceeded the mark of 1k websites.
Two soundtracks in the cyberpunk genre have been added to the Snoop software.
Snoop is positioned as one of the most promising OSINT tools for finding usernames in open data and is available to the general user.
The tool is also aimed at the RU segment, which is a huge advantage compared to similar OSINT applications.
Initially, a major update of the Sherlock Project was planned for the CIS region (but after about 1/3 of the database was updated), however, at some point, the Sherlock developers changed their course and stopped accepting updates, explaining this situation as a 'Restructuring' of the project and approaching the maximum possible amount of resources in their website database; thus, Snoop emerged, which advanced far ahead without adapting to any external interests.
The project supports GNU/Linux, Windows, Android operating systems.
