This is a version of the Solaris 11.4 operating system aimed at use by open-source developers and for personal applications. CBE simplifies access to the latest versions of software and updates for those wishing to use Solaris for free. Unlike the main builds of Solaris 11.4, whose licenses allow free use for testing, development, and personal projects, the CBE edition features a continuous publishing model of new versions and is close to the edition Solaris 11.4 SRU (Support Repository Update).
The code for open components of Solaris is available in the repository on GitHub, and individual packages can be downloaded from pkg.oracle.com. Support for the Oracle Solaris platform will continue until 2037.
