Key changes in the desktop edition:
- New wallpapers. Featuring an image of the Australian Dingo dog. Available in 4K in both color and grayscale.
- The default Yaru theme introduced with Ubuntu 18.10 has received an expanded set of application icons.
- The GNOME desktop environment has been updated to version 3.32, enhancing performance and allowing non-integer scaling in Wayland sessions.
- When installed on VMware, open-vm-tools is automatically installed for improved integration.
- The option to use IWD together with NetworkManager has been added. IWD is positioned as a replacement for wpa supplicant.
- The sound subsystem setup page has been updated.
- A new 'Safe Graphics Mode' option has been added to the GRUB loader. This allows for booting with the NOMODESET option, which can help with graphics issues.
Key changes in the server edition:
- QEMU has been updated to version 3.1. It includes virglrenderer, which allows the creation of virtual machines with 3D GPU. This is less powerful than direct GPU passthrough but can be used on machines lacking that capability.
- Samba 4.10. Now supports Python 3.
- Images for Raspberry Pi have gained easy Bluetooth activation through the pi-bluetooth package.
