Wine 5.4 was released on March 13.
Wine is a compatibility layer for running Windows applications on POSIX-compliant operating systems, translating Windows API calls to POSIX calls on the fly instead of emulating Windows logic like a virtual machine.
In addition to more than 34 bug tracker fixes, the new release includes:
- Unicode has been updated to version 13
- Built-in programs now use the UCRTBase C runtime
- Improved support for IDN (internationalized domain names) domain names)
- Support for rounded rectangles in Direct2D has been added
- Text rendering in D3DX9 has been added
