The developers of the Czech company Avast Software announced the release of an updated web browser, Secure Browser, built on the source code of the open-source Chromium project, aimed at ensuring user security while working on the global network.
The new version of Avast Secure Browser, codenamed Zermatt, features optimizations for memory and CPU usage, as well as a 'Battery Saver' function. In both cases, the program's algorithms operate on inactive tabs (pausing any running web applications and scripts, lowering their priority, unloading them from computer memory, etc.), which positively affects the performance of the web browser and the battery life of laptops. It is claimed that the browser now uses 50% less RAM and allows for a 20% increase in battery life for mobile PCs.
Among other changes, the updated Avast Secure Browser includes integrated tools for checking user data for leaks and compromises (the so-called Avast Hack Check feature) and enhanced Anti-Fingerprinting tools for tracking and targeting protection.
