Open MCT data visualization platform update

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration has published an update to the Open MCT 1.8.2 (Open Mission Control Technologies) open toolkit, designed to visualize data received during the collection of telemetry from various sensors and information sources. The web interface is built using adaptive layout methods and can be used on both desktop computers and mobile devices. The code is written in JavaScript (the server part is based on Node.js) and is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.

Open MCT allows you to display in one consolidated interface streams of both currently incoming and already received data (history analysis), evaluate the status of sensors, display images from cameras, navigate through events using a timeline, visualize any information, use different views telemetry (tables, graphs, diagrams, etc.). The operator can quickly switch between different data processors and views, change the size of areas, compose their own views in the visual editor, and move elements in drag&drop mode. The platform is very flexible and, with the help of plugins, can be adapted for various applications, forms of information presentation, types and data sources.

At NASA mission control centers, the platform is used to visually analyze mission parameters associated with spacecraft launches, as well as to plan and control experimental planetary rovers. For the community, Open MCT can be useful in any application related to monitoring, planning, analysis and tracking of systems that generate telemetry data. For example, Open MCT can be used to monitor Internet of Things devices, servers and computer networks, monitor the status of drones, robots and various medical systems, visualize business data, etc.
