A new version of the video editor Avidemux 2.8.0 is available, designed to solve simple problems of cutting video, applying filters and encoding. A large number of file formats and codecs are supported. Task execution can be automated using task queues, writing scripts, and creating projects. Avidemux is licensed under the GPL and is available in builds for Linux (AppImage), macOS and Windows.
Among the changes added:
- Added the ability to convert HDR video to SDR using various tone mapping methods.
- The FFV1 encoder, removed in branch 2.6, has been returned.
- Added the ability to decode TrueHD audio tracks and use them in Matroska media containers.
- Added support for WMA9 decoding.

- The βResample FPSβ and βChange FPSβ filters add support for frame refresh rates up to 1000 FPS, and the βResizeβ filter increases the maximum final resolution to 8192x8192.
- Improved scaling for HiDPI screens when previewing.
- Added the ability to change color properties in the x264 encoder plugin.
- In the dialog for changing the position in the video, inserting values ββin the format 00:00:00.000 is allowed.
- The PulseAudioSimple audio device has been replaced with full PulseAudio support with the ability to control volume from the application.
