Release of aTox 0.7.0 messenger with support for audio calls

ATox 0.7.0, a free messenger for the Android platform, using the Tox (c-toxcore) protocol, has been released. Tox offers a decentralized P2P messaging model that uses cryptographic methods to authenticate the user and protect transit traffic from interception. The application is written in the Kotlin programming language. The source code and ready-made builds of the application are distributed under the GPLv3 license.

aTox features:

  • Convenience: simple and clear settings.
  • End-to-end encryption: the only people who can see the correspondence are the user himself and direct interlocutors.
  • Distribution: no central servers that can be turned off or from which user data can be transferred to someone else.
  • Lightweight: No telemetry, ads, or other forms of surveillance, and the current version of the app is only 14MB.
